No Respite for Rampart

- Our group sent out a messenger
to the priests of Kelemvor
And Juniper a messenger to the
treemother she adored
Both messengers, it seems, were rats
at least in their own way
Juniper's quite literally
But the other chose to betray
To the City Guard quickly she ran
with news of our wizardly group
and pretty soon the guard arrived,
Aveline Stannard and her troop
The Knight-Captain turned out to be
as firm as she was fair
She invited us to the Citadel
and we kindly traveled there
While strolling to the Citadel
this humble minstrel did tell
of how our party still had magic
and Aveline fell under my spell
We soon came to a Citadel court
where we were soon to meet
several ministers of the council
who glumly admitted defeat
The town, it was defenseless
all magic was now gone
The city's food was running out
We didn't have that long
It seemed that soon, poor Rampart
a town second to none
Would grapple with starvation
and be, quite likely, overrun
We offered up our services
to help as best we could
We split our forces into three
each team to do some good
Some went off to calm the population
To ease the villagers pain
Treemother rode warhorse Juniper
Who went to bring crops rain
Those who could sense magic went
To investigate the arcane
But our great druid found she could
barely make some rain
Instead she found the cold caves warm,
and full of spoiling grain
The crowd control went pretty well
Our team proved quite good
At helping keep the crowds calmed down
and assisting where they could
The two tasked with checking out
the Arcana's stock of toys
Found that most were now mundane
and split the rest between the boys
Soon our party had regrouped
to explore outside the gates
the council hoping that we'd find
a way to unseal Rampart's fate
But the moment that we stepped outside
and headed for the gates
It turns out another problem
had been heaped upon our plates
Sweet and fragile Rampart
was now under attack
By large and scaly creatures
with wings like that of bats
Dragons had beset themselves
upon this powerless town
And it seemed the wretched beasts were keen
to burn the whole thing down
