Hoj's Harrowing Handiwork

- Retelling
- Through a glorious song, this kindly bard
Tried very hard to get the guards
To see their orders were a canard
But alas they sought to punch our cards
Hoj also tried to warn them off
But the Cultist Guard just scoffed
He said that there was no mistake
And that our lives his guards would take
The Cultist Guard fell back a bit
Opened a box and took a hit
Of sparkly, powdery mana stuff
And got some magic from that huff
He summoned forth a ray of light
Which missed us all, to our delight
Will fired off a bursting shot
But a glancing blow was all he got
Selene summoned forth a hail of snow
And down did four of the guardsmen go
Lyrad fired her mighty bow
And hit the last with an ensnarrow
Down he fell, well ensnared
When Mugs came 'round the corner prepared
To take down an army all on her own
And leaped upon the guard, now prone
She knocked him out with a vicious blow
And that is how the fight did go
We went to interrogate the chap
But Hoj seemed to have completely snapped
He broke the poor man’s legs and arms
Cut his throat and caused much harm
Before we even learned his name
The guard died from being so badly maimed
The remaining guard, who was our friend
Was shaken by this last guard’s end
Vale spoke to him with kindly words
Until the guard could rest assured
That we weren’t a group of psychopaths
He need not fear cruel Hoj’s wrath
Selene probed new friend, Errol’s, mind
A key detail did she find
He liked my song! as it turned out
I barely could suppress a shout
Of joy as this did cheer my heart
My career was off to a great start
We stashed the dead guards in the crypt
And then searched all the rest of it
We found some coins amongst the urns
And not much else did we learn
Errol left with orders from Hoj
He gladly got the hell out of dodge
At the Citadel, we walked around
Juniper’s locate spell searched the grounds
For signs of lead boxes stashed inside
But alas there was nothing we did find
She sought out emblems amongst the guards
Finding one wasn’t all that hard
It belonged to Stannard’s aid
And within moments he was made
To confess his treason to us all
But perhaps he simply took the fall
Stannard asked us to report
What we found in Saladbar’s fort
Should we would tell her what we learned?
Or like the others, has she turned?
