Our Band Buys a Bunch

- We left friend Baraxus to go explore town
After that long discussion we all felt quite down
We pondered our fate and how we could flee
And seemed to all opt for retail therapy
A district of merchants is what we all found
Some of us split up to go look around
Rys came upon a purveyor of art
The kind that made drawings upon body parts
"Group tats!" Rys had shouted to all of his friends
But only enticed a handful at the end
Lyrad and Juniper and also he
Were the only ones willing to go on this spree
Fenn was upset at his friends' quest for ink
"If you pay with souls coins I'll tell you that you stink"
We said not to worry as he walked away
And we asked the artist how much we should pay
We bargained and haggled and came to a cost
Of gems and gold pieces and a skill would be lost
Rys opted to trade his bag piping skill
For some new body art that would give him a thrill
Juniper opted to get both arms done
Giving her powers with which she'd have fun
Her thorns and good berry sleeve gave Eldrich Claws
Her coral sleeve's Coiling Grasp would give enemies pause
Lyrad's ensnarrow inspired her art
And so she had Coiling Grasp inked on her parts
Masquerade ended up etched on Rys' scales
"5-7-5" read the ink 'bove his tail
But tattoos were not all that was bought that day
For the rest of the party had wandered away
Vale traded some swords and a cloak and some gold
For a magic crossbow both heavy and old
Fenn and Selene went to seek out more spells
There were new things to learn in this one of nine hells
They managed to trade in the books that they had
For a new set of magic that seemed awfully rad
For some magical arrows, Will traded some hair
And the memory of how it came into her care
Hoj wondered around and morned for his soul
"I must seek revenge upon those who stole"
"We'll kidnap somebody and use them for trade"
"For my soul" is the plan that our Paladin made
It seemed to us though his essence was removed
His sense of propriety had not improved
Fenn read over his collection of spells
And one of them turned out to ring a few bells
"Your soul's in a jar?" he asked of our friend
"If so when we break it, the spell's power ends"
"Let's go and smash it" Hoj boldly declared
"Hold up, maybe we should first be more prepared"
"Let's organize crime and build up our power"
"Then twist these guys' arms" he proclaimed with a glower
"These devils, these things, they are nothing to me"
"But obstacles between my poor soul and me"
"They're all quite unjust so their lives are forfeit"
"If we had empty soul coins, I'd trap quite a bit"
"Now I'm off to go contact my lost deity"
"I'm going to meditate, don't bother me"
Hoj sauntered off and sat facing a wall
And none of us tried to disturb him at all
We chatted a bit just amongst ourselves
While into his innermost-self Hoj did delve
He felt something tug at a lost memory
And he held fast to it to see what it might be
It started off with the sound of Hoj's feet
Beating upon Rampart's miles of streets
He was chasing a pickpocket all over town
For hours they ran till the scoundrel went down
Hoj went to capture the bedraggled thief
But he saw in his quarry a worn look of grief
"Have mercy" the culprit begged to his captor
And asked to keep that which he unlawfully procured
Something about this poor urchin hit Hoj
His stern sense of justice was slightly dislodged
In a land full of plenty, why would someone steal?
Hoj's plan of detention lost some of its zeal
And so came back dear Hoj's first memory
Of who he once was and who he might be
What he would do next was all up to him
Whether it would be pleasant or if it'd be grim
