- Juniper spoke with Treemother at length
And asked if the Watchertree gained back its strength
Treemother declared was to making some food
But most of dear Rampart fell prey to a feud
The Council had splintered quick under the strain
From defending the city and growing more grain
And also a plague had sprung up in the town
And boy had it brought the Lower Quarter down
Juniper asked of which factions were best
But Treemother said it was anyone's guess
Each one had their merits and each had their flaws
It came down to if you agreed with their cause
One group helps the townships, one offers defense
That latter one's seeking out some Wyvern's nests
One guards the wealthy who walled off the Dregs
And Mayo's now something for which they all beg
The rest of our party was marched down the street
To the Citadel where all the factions would meet
The guards seemed uneasy, the feeling was tense
Hoj could not wait to give them all his two cents
"You've all made quite a mess of things since we've been gone"
"Poor Rampart's suffering's gone on too long"
"You've failed in your duties and unfit to lead"
"A kick in the rear is what all of you need"
Zakaria laughed and she nodded her head
"I sure do agree with all that you just said"
"But we're facing crises all over the place"
"Please give us just a modicum of grace"
The other group leaders were not so amused
It seemed like our clemency might be refused
But after a while they all came to ask
If we could assist them in some of their tasks
There were towers to delve and wyverns to slay
Or round up the cultists who've all gone astray
Or bandits to track down and shipments to guard
And growing more food still seemed awfully hard
And then in the Dregs, a most horrible plight
The people were dying in droves from some blight
They're walled from the city and left there to die
And saving them's something that we should not try
Upon Wardsen's face, we detected some crumbs
And pretty much all in the party went numb
Baked goods were in play and yet none to be seen
How could all these group leaders be so darn mean?
Juniper said we would not offer aid
Until a fresh basket of muffins was made
And brought to us here in the Taupe Room post-haste
To refuse us this kindness would be in bad taste
The muffins appeared in a mere moment's time
Three oat, and one chocolate -- a favorite of mine
One rhubarb and a pair of 'nana nuts too
And four sweet blueberry was brought to our crew
We said, as we took our fresh muffins to go,
That we'd talk it over and let them all know
About what we'd do now that we're back in town
And that we would not let our dear Rampart down
We argued a while 'bout what we should do
And finally decided no one had a clue
And that if we got some rest, it wouldn't hurt
And headed to Walden to sleep in a yurt
