Observations
Muddy surface layer gives way to a small, cramped staircase. Lighting is noticeably lacking upon entering and it is simply impossible to see once one has descended the stairs. The masonry of the walls has completely surrendered to the ravages of time, leaving a hollow shell of a chamber. The crumbling brick work is awful on the acoustics and serves almost better as an absorber of sound. My songs hardly carried from one end to the other. I have included a rubbing of one such brick as it may aid those who wish to build a chamber of silence, though I would never have need of such a room myself. Perhaps to blame, though, would be the numerous holes and tunnels dug into the walls and floor of the room. These are, of course, notorious for robbing a room of the majesty of sound. The infestation problem prevents me from recommending this site for anything. From the apparent array of bones, even corpses would be better suited elsewhere. Adjoining room contains a large hole, perfect for falling into if one is not careful. At the bottom of the hole lies a large chamber, 20 paces across, circular in nature, replete with obligatory scattered bones, dust, and cobwebs. Truly droll. There is a small room which contains an inscription, the meaning of which has escaped my traveling companions: The key is found within your head Use the key to paint me red Be aware of what you spurn For what you give shall be returned
